Scientists and environmental activists to picket Congress tomorrow to denounce the revival of BNPP
Date: Tomorrow, January 29, 2009
Time: 10 am
Place: House of Representatives, Batasan Hills, Q.C. (main gate)
The Philippine Climate Watch Alliance (PCWA) will hold a demonstration against the revival of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP). The group stands in their ground that BNPP is an un-sound proposal for a country with vast renewable energy potential. Its proponents should be trashed along with the BNPP, which is already widely known to be hazardous to the environment, health of the people, and national security.
The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant Re-commissioning Act of 2008, or Senate Bill No. 2665, spearheaded by Reps. Mark Cojuangco and Mikey Arroyo, claims "to revisit and utilize the nuclear power option" to address global warming and the "shortfall in the electric generating capacity of the country in 2012."
Please attend. Thank you.
